ABOUT ME
Hello All!
My name is Maritza Torres and I am a student at Metropolitan State University. I am currently a Junior working towards a double major in Communication and Journalism. My communication major is concentrated in rhetoric and social justice which can be seen coming in place a lot within this portfolio. During my college journey, I have learned a lot about the environment and the ways in which we negatively impact it. My passion of social justice had allowed for my dedication to this project to really shine in a portfolio like this, I felt a pull towards this issue (and many others) because of the intersections between lack of concern for the environmental and disregard for human rights.
This portfolio compiles research and course work done through out the course of Environmental Communication at Metropolitan State University of Denver, Colorado. I originally picked this topic out of curiosity after I heard about the protests in a journalism course. Upon further research, I learned that is issue is bigger then imagined because of the multiple facets of injustice at play. I hope this portfolio educates its readers on the multiple layers of harm that come with such controversial topics, like it did for me.
